About Me
The word “photography” literally means “drawing with light”.
*The word was supposedly first coined by the British scientist Sir John Herschel in 1839 from the Greek words phos, (genitive: phōtós) meaning “light”, and graphê meaning “drawing or writing”. Many of the world-renowned photographers of our day were inspired by the great masters of art because they knew how to paint light into their images.
My name is Cemanthe, and I'm the founder of Created With Light.
I've been doing photography for many years, but recently used the opportunity of lockdown to hone in on my technical camera skills, and did a few online courses.
In one of them there was a module asking us to consider the light around us, and how it plays against the shadows. And while I was sitting in my office pondering the sunlight coming through the window, it struck me:
'let there be light'
Not in a Biblical way, but in a life context. Life in it's best form starts with light, possibly love, and is sustained by it (even the ancient Egyptians worshipped the god of the Sun because they knew how important it was to life).
It's around us, in us, and part of who we are.
And so, created with light photography was born. It's an opportunity to capture, and hold, that moment of light in our lives; the sound of your child's laughter, grandparents playing with their grandkids.
Those early mornings spent cuddling in bed watching Peppa Pig with your toddler.
Those moments that light up your life.
Let's capture this together. Hold it. Cherish it. Print and frame it.
I'd love to work with you to create memories you're proud to hang on your wall.
